For more than five centuries, MASSERIA DONNA MENGA has had a passion for history and stories, particularly the one about the young girl that gives it it’s name.
The first documents in which the farmhouse is present date back to 1493 and indicate that it belongs to the Bishop’s Mensa of Nardò.
Over time, the appearance of the building has changed due to changes in cultivation practices, but the austere forms and the imposing tower defended by drains on each side recall the simple peasant life of past centuries, during which it was necessary to defend against frequent Saracen raids.
The dedication and respect of all those who have worked at this unique place have resulted in the suggestions for the future, which reflect its past and provide momentum for a new story projected into the future.
